Sigasi: understand HDL projects in the editor

Sigasi Visual HDL adds HDL-specific support for design entry and project analysis to Visual Studio Code.

Engineers working on large HDL projects need to recognise relationships quickly: which declaration belongs to a signal? Where is a unit used? Which file depends on which library? Sigasi Visual HDL addresses this work in the editor.

Current product line

The current product line is called Sigasi Visual HDL and is offered as a VS Code extension. The manufacturer distinguishes commercial editions by development, visualisation and automation features. Earlier Sigasi Studio and Eclipse offerings appear in the legacy sections. New evaluations should therefore start with the current platform.

Project context is crucial

Editor feedback is useful when it sees the same source files, libraries and language versions as the build. Do not treat the project definition as an isolated workstation configuration. Check a fresh checkout and a change to a shared library.

A clearly bounded interaction with Aldec

Sigasi documents external compiler tasks, including Riviera-PRO. Such a compiler run checks whether the project can be compiled in the target environment. A separate simulation run with a testbench, stimuli and a test result remains necessary. The workflow page and application notes show how these responsibilities stay distinct.

Evaluate the appropriate edition

List the tasks you need: source navigation, graphical views, UVM-related analysis or CLI execution. Check these against the current feature matrix and a suitable test project. An installed component does not automatically mean that its use is covered by your existing licence.
